THE INTERVENTION: WHAT IS INVOLVED?

Once we review all the facts and evaluate the urgency of the family circumstances (via phone, faxes, or

e-mails) we arrange, with your cooperation and written authority, the best time and place to approach

and pick up your troubled teen. We carefully select the right team to meet your child's needs.

Usually it is at your home, during the early morning hours while the troubled youth is still asleep. In certain

situations there might be other options such as after school, or work, particularly if your teen has not

been coming home.

 

Once in our custody we immediately focus on providing your youngster with the appropriate support

and corrective measures to instill a positive guideline for them to follow.

 

We create a strategically blueprinted plan, which is sensitive, yet firm, and which is designed to

convincingly make your teen aware of their 'out of control behavior'. At the same time we nourish

their positive interests and feelings thus paving the way for a more helpful climate for the VITAL

solutions  needed so that you and your teen can begin reshaping their own, and the family's, well being.

 

By removing your child from his or her environment to a safe harbor and monitoring them on a minute

to minute, 72 hour 'around the clock basis', we can protect them from doing any harm to themselves

or others, during this often dangerous period of crisis.

WHAT IS OUR TREATMENT FORMAT FOR YOUR TEEN?

We immediately begin our therapeutic 72 Hour regimen with the teen en route to our safe, unkown to them, destination.

We create an intense 3 day schedule to meet their needs as indicated by their recent history of difficulties and problems.

 

Schedule Example:

1. Early rising each day.

2. Breakfast

3. Rigourous road work. Repeated as needed for therapeutic value.

4. Lunch.

5. "Scared Straight" with visits to a Jail, or "12 Step" Recovery meeting.

THE TIME TO GET SERIOUS - 'Make Your Bed and Sleep In it.'

a. Diet and Nourishment - how it helps them think and act clearlyand be productive.

 

b. Behaviour - attitudes for success and failure. Who gets hired and who gets fired in real life?

 

c. How to create and earn self-respect. Living up to your word and respecting others.

 

d. Creative and/or sports related activity for building on individual effort, relating skills, and teamwork.

Competing fairly. Setting goals and achieving them.

 

e. The value of exercise - a sound mind and a sound body.

 

7.   Dinner.

9.   Therapeutic Work study and SELF CONTROL exercises.

*  Each day is planned to build on the circumstances as we gather knowledge of what is

causing the problems, and then work very specifically with your teen to penetrate their

will need to do in order to fulfill their potential. They will see and understand what it will take on

THEIR part to be ALLOWED or WELCOMED BACK to their home environment.

a very powerful TIMELY lesson, a lesson we have found to be a great tool in challenging the

NEGATIVE DIRECTION of their young lives.

*  In certain more dire circumstances, involving extremely belligerent, difficult or physically forceful teen anti-social behavior,

or such serious matters as juvenile criminal acts of theft, public disturbance, unlawful acts of drug dealing or abuse,

and other severe cases of troubled youth 'acting out' rebelliousness we offer an appropriate integration of remedies.

Our "scared straight" 72 HOUR WAKE UP CALL with more stringent measures meets a strong negative reaction with

a powerful positve remedy. Sometimes having your teen exposed to a more realistic, "in your face", approach

can be more effective. Close-up, inside visits to city jails, penal institutions, detention centers and criminal

courtrooms gets their attention. They realize the possible consequences of their actions.

 

Depending on your child's propensity to challenge authority, or unwillingness to be cooperative and show

signs of working on their problems, we may also, through our good auspices and working relationships,

have them do supervised strenuous road work  'therapy' for the Dept. of  Roads and Highways.

Similar programs involve them in outdoor farm work harvesting crops and working thefields as part of their daily regimen.
